Quotes: Warren Buffett (1)
Appearing on the PBS show Money World in 1993, Buffett was asked what investment advice he would give a money manger just starting out. “I’d tell him to do exactly what I did 40-odd years ago, which is to learn about every company in the United States that has publicily traded securities.” Moderator Adam Smith protested, “But there’s 27,000 public companies.” “Well,” said Buffet, “start with the A’s.”
“Succes in investing doesn’t correlate with IQ once you’re above the level of 125. Once you have ordinary intelligence, what you need is temperament to control the urges that get other people into trouble in investing.”
“We don’t have to be smarter than the rest; we have to be more disciplined than the rest.”
“We simply attempt to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when others are fearful.”
“What we do is not beyond anybody else’s competence. It is just not necessary to do extraordinary things to get extraordinary results.”
